CHICAGO, September 1, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - McDonald’s USA has announced its "Show Up and Show Out in Black" initiative, aiming to address the underrepresentation of Black fashion designers in the industry. Building on its Black & Positively Golden (B&PG) Change of Fashion program, the initiative encourages the public to support Black-owned fashion brands during New York Fashion Week (NYFW) and beyond.

Through the "Show Up and Show Out in Black" campaign, McDonald’s invites fans to shop collections from the Change of Fashion designers and other Black-owned brands. Participants can earn a "Show Up and Show Out" badge by purchasing items from Black designers, requesting a free badge, or downloading a digital version.

"Having witnessed the challenges and underrepresentation that Black designers face in the fashion industry, I am thrilled to advocate for their incredible talent through McDonald's Black & Positively Golden Change of Fashion program," said journalist and TV host Elaine Welteroth. "During New York Fashion Week, a highly coveted time on the fashion calendar, I look forward to seeing fans join the Show Up and Show Out in Black movement by using their style and platforms to support Black designers."

The initiative is in partnership with Black Owned Everything, an organization dedicated to increasing the visibility of Black-owned brands. Founder Zerina Akers emphasized the importance of shining a light on the "incredible creativity, tenacity and accomplishments of Black fashion designers."

McDonald’s will host several events during NYFW, including an in-store designer meet and greet on September 8 and a State of Fashion Symposium on September 10. The brand has also partnered with luxury design house LaQuan Smith to provide mentorship to the Change of Fashion designers.
