NEW YORK, October 21, 2024 (V SHADES) – H&M is marking the 20th anniversary of its guest designer collaborations by releasing a selection of pre-loved items from previous collections. The initiative, which features pieces from designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Versace, and Moschino, will be rolled out in several global locations starting October 24, 2024.

The first collaboration between H&M and a major designer took place in 2004 with Karl Lagerfeld. According to H&M, this initiative aimed to make high-end fashion more accessible to a broader audience. Since then, the company has partnered with a wide range of designers, creating collections that combine high fashion with affordability.

Ann-Sofie Johansson, Creative Advisor at H&M, explained the original intention behind the collaborations: "Our aim was to introduce the world of fashion to consumers globally, while showcasing our connection to strong, thoughtful, and original design. It connects to the fundamental ethos of H&M: that quality and creativity should be available for everyone."

The pre-loved items in this re-release have been sourced through partnerships with Sellpy, an online pre-loved marketplace, and various global vintage retailers. According to H&M, this effort is part of the company's broader strategy to promote sustainability and advance toward a circular fashion economy.

"Through working with pre-loved pieces, we can bring these collections back to fashion fans, giving them the chance to love these collections all over again while introducing iconic fashion moments from H&M and the world's top design talents to a new generation," said Jörgen Andersson, Creative Director at H&M.

The re-release will occur in seven international stores and online, with the first drop scheduled in Paris on October 24, followed by releases in London, Milan, New York, Barcelona, Stockholm, and Berlin. The final drop will be made available online on October 31.
